One of Van Gogh?s major problems in Drenthe – finding peasants willing to pose for him – seemed almost to resolve itself in Nuenen. It was winter, and there was little work to be done in the fields and, in addition, Vincent was the minister?s son. These circumstances made it possible for him to execute a large number of studies of peasantà heads in a relatively short amount of time.
